moving right along. no pictures today.
i'm very pleased with the progress. showed a few scenes to my friends
and the response was very positive.
my faith in the movie has been revitalized, and working on it has become fun again.
this is very good.
i've been working nonstop yesterday and today editing and adding small chunks
fixing up little things that are bugging me, making the sound nice, recording backround
ambiance. this film will be complete in under a month.

i've drank alot of water today. it was hot here today.
premiere 2.0 keeps crashing inbetween saves, it sucks.

i'm going to bed.

busy busy busy

here is my friend enid weinheimer in character. she played "eustacia cain"
and did a tremendous job. i've been editing quite a bit. it's crunch time right now.

here we are. look at how stern enid can look! good job enid.
go team!

nice tits

today was a very very productive day. above you'll see that i have breasts.
i don't really have breasts though, i made them.
the actual breasts are condoms filled with water. i've attached them to a bra with a spandex pocket
and the nipples are this fed-ex stress reliever ball cut in half with a marble glued to the center.
so if you ever need to make yourself fake tits and like the way these turned out, you can do that.
the above picture may be the weirdest one on this whole website.

i shot the highway scene today. this scene bridges the fantasy world
to the real life world in a fun way. with time, space, and patience restrictions
it turned out alot different than i originally planned, but i think this way
will be alot funnier because i just went gonzo on it.

this is another shot of the highway.

i got the timmy tomato bedroom scene and poolroom scene shot today.
i need to add leonard to the poolroom scene and it'll be done. i also cleaned
up the whole basement to get ready to shoot with enid tomorrow.
busy busy busy.

ugh

a few days after the last update i caught a nasty computer virus that automatically downloaded
a bunch of shit to my machine and, get this, played the "sanford and son" theme song in the background
while no programs were open. i admire the creativity of whoever wrote that virus but i don't desire to
get it again. i have taken more drastic anti-virus precautions now.

so i had to move the movie off of my c drive and reinstall everything. i was having html issues. they have
been fixed today (thank you anthony).

the shot above is from "jellybean road" which is for a short dream sequence in the picture.
the lollipop trees didn't fare very well in a humidity rich basement. i removed them yesterday
and my hands were heartily coated with glucose or dextrose or some sticky kind of "ose" of some sort

this is manitoba pete. he's complete now with the sturdiest mouth mechanism of any puppets in the film.
the pictures here are from the last week and i was getting confused about what i took pictures of already.
i'm hoping to shoot the manitoba pete scenes tomorrow or sunday so i'll have a picture of him then.

this is the day of the virus (i think). i tore my room apart looking for another wireless dsl receiver i had
because the drivers i had for my current one were being a total shit. some dueling drivers in windows
were keeping me from the net. without the net, i couldn't validate adobe premiere. without premiere
i couldn't edit the picture. there were 2 or 3 days where i didn't get anything done. it was stressful
but i did other things instead. shooting other things and things (and things)

like making a green screen. things fell through with the green screen facility so i attempted
to make my own. i do believe i'm having the same problem with lighting i had before but i think
i figured it out. i was using yellow and white light and expecting everything to look the same.
since i'm colorblind i cannot tell differences that easily. blah blah.

this is the frame. i had very little space to make it. moving it is a nightmare.
this film has occupied quite a bit of the space i have to work with. i'm looking very forward
to being done with it so i can pack up all this shit.

here is the finished green screen. it's about 8 feet by 8 feet.
the challenge now is to light it.

i bought a pack of 8 pieces of wood, and since i'm about to shoot the highway model scene
i was thinking a movable sky would be easier than a movable set. the highway set has
alot of factors which..well..don't balance very well. to move it around to get a sky in the background
of each one would have been a royal pain in the ass. i chose to make a movable background.
the only problem is i don't really have much room for this. oh well. no pain no gain.

this is what the completed sky looks like. with some clouds placed in different spots hopefully
it'll look pretty smooth.

there are miniature evergreen trees. i bought them at michael's craft store. i had them in mind
since i saw them in the beginning of the year. they are christmas themed but have been in the store
since last christmas. they were 14 dollars a pack and i bought 2 packs of them.

then i spraypainted them green . these will be placed in front of the camera in front of
manitoba pete to make him look humongous. it'll look campy but i've accepted that now.

these are dvds of "the making of" the film that i made to help promote.
everything (with the exception of the intro) is available on youtube for you to watch.
if you would like to watch these click here

this is the film poster. i ran a test to see how it would look printed out and i like it
except the font i used didn't get embedded. so it's a "test" poster really.

this is a display i made for a shot.

this is what it looks like filled with pamphlets
(all designed by the wonderful andrea tomingas)

this is what the shot will look like with the exception that colby's hand isn't in it yet.

and monday i begin shooting the bulk of the "poem time" show footage.
my friend enid will be dropping by to play the part of author "eustacia cain"
i'm sure she'll do wonderful and the audience will adore her.

that's it for now, i think i'm going to take a nap.

august 6th

last weekend i got 3 scenes shot. 2 very major. one quite funny.
not to say the 2 major ones weren't funny. i hope they were
oh you know what i mean i hope. it's hot today.

this is abbeth russell. she is the bronson fish stick girl.
she sells fish sticks on poem time. she did a great job and was very funny.

here are colby and i from somewhere in western ontario (not really it's a secret don't tell)

here i am at the park with mr. theolonius. he is trying to sweet talk me into coming with him
and taking photographs. this scene has a very funny ending.

august 2nd

hello.
today i began making manitoba pete. i documented the whole thing on video
but didn't finish editing it. perhaps i'll put it on the dvd

this is manitoba pete's instrument that he made with crashed plane parts.

hello.
this is what i had in my head when i thought it (sans road signs and highway garbage) and i'm quite pleased.
the arrangements of the buildings in the background was just temporary.
i cannot wait to shoot this scene. i am going to do green screen footage in my car first. then shoot the miniatures second.
i have alot of fun ideas.

i printed out a cityscape in chunks on 11x17 paper and cut them out today. i did it twice.
the second set is in black and white and i'm going to put it further back in the scene. they will look all shadowy.
then a blue sky and clouds behind that. with a wide angle lens it'll look big. that pleases me.

additionally, my good pal casey jones has been welcomed aboard the "onward to calgary" train
and provided not one, not two, not three but FOUR different protester voices. now i can finish editing that scene.
thank goodness! i think it's one of the funniest scenes in the movie. thank you dave and talia.
