today i worked on some details in my little town. i added parking spaces on the street.
my statue had dried since yesterday so i put him in the park and added some "bushes" which
are just little green poofy things but at a glance they look neat.

here is another shot of up the road a little. i painted the yellow line in the middle of the road.
i really like the way it looks.

i also added some more shrubs in between two buildings in the backround and added a fence
which i'll probably replace with a little painted balsa wood fence because i don't like the way it looks.

i also painted a crosswalk. i will paint another one going to the other side and i'll add a small
traffic light over this intersection. i am pleased with the way it is coming along. i've also
painted this dirty wash over the roofs of the buildings to make them look dirty and not so plastic.
i'll have to work on that alot more.

today i worked on my town some more.

these are pieces of fence which i had from another set that i hadn't put together yet. i thought they would be
pretty cool to put around the little town. i also had a material that resembles some sort of grass/dirt.
i thought it would be neat to make a little park inbetween buildings.
but first i painted the sidewalks a uniform color.

i then took a little bit of the stuff i had and glued it into the flowerpots in front of a building i had.

the fence was all gray in the beginning, so i spraypainted a few of the parts white.

this is a chess piece i bought at the boston childrens museum in august i think. i always wanted it to be
some kind of statue in the little town. this little statue will go in my new park. i spraypainted him a silly
color that was silly.

here is what the little park looks like with the fences up. when my little man dries i will put him there.

this is a view down one of the two streets.

this is another angle. i will put a removable part on the left side because i'll be shooting from the other side.
i will also add signs, parking spaces, parking meters probably and lots of parked cars.

i have a few more factory buildings which i'll build into another set like this, and put in the backround so it looks
like it's at the end of a long road, i also have a few more buildings i will put on the side of the road before the highway.

hello.
i've been using my camera every single day this year. learning. in the past few days
i've watched "marnie" and "vertigo" by hitchcock and paying super close attention to the shots he's been using.
he's good. i've spent alot of time thinking about this film, almost all of my time. i haven't thought about HOW
to shoot these shots though really. now i'm thinking about it. every time i have an idea i try it. the above is a shot
through about five feet of cardboard tubing. not terribly interesting, but when you're zoomed all the way out
you cannot tell the cardboard is there. then...zooooooom, black hole! it's pretty fun. i remember my friend eric tieman
making his own lenses when i lived in denver. he was very innovative. so i've spent alot of time thinking about plot, the script,
what happens where... now i'm concentrating on shots. trying as much as i can and remembering what looked cool.
i am having alot of fun trying tons of new things. new for me at least.

when i was looking for tubes to shoot through i noticed that they were different pitches. this brought me joy.
for the longest time i wanted to make music with unconventional instruments and i think i found something to use.
i have a garbage bag full of these tubes in the trunk of my car, and the tops can be sawed off to different lengths
to make different notes. it'll be trial and error but it'll be alot of fun. i was thinking about making a track with snaps
and stomps perhaps to play in a scene where someone is thinking about something or something. i don't know yet, but i do know
that a new door of fun opened today and i am psyched. if you would like to hear what i did with these tubes at work
click on the photograph above and download a small .mp3 file.

i've been working on my little town set a little. it's really cold in my basement now so i dread being down there.
this picture is so ready to shoot i cannot wait. it stinks the weather is so horrible and cold and dismal as of late
i suppose that's what i get for living in new england.

january 11th

january 3rd

hello.
here are the chocolates again. this picture is a flash file.
each chocolate is on a seperate layer.
i'll give them all eyes soon.

january 2nd

hi. here is how the idea went.
so i was at work and i was thinking about how i like the way a box of chocolates look when you open them.
i then thought it was something i would like to put in the film.
"where can i put a box of chocolates" i thought
"oh, my upstairs neighbor can be mowing down on a box of them"
how would i shoot this, what can i do?
how can i maximize the potential of this box of chocolates?
i know, i could give them all little faces, and not only that
i could have them all screaming bloody murder as this woman begins eating them

so i began drawing little eyes on a still picture. then i thought about what more i could do with it.
how could i add chaos to this box of chocolates? so what i came up with is this idea.
take a photo of the empty box, then take photos of the chocolates independently.
then take all the pictures into flash, add a personalily to each chocolate and mask them in their respective chocolate homes
in the box. chocolate a-1,a-2 like that. distribute them into layers and then have 48 chocolates that could all do different things

imagine a box of chocolates that starts screaming and trying to escape when they see what their fate will be?
the mentality of a curious child when the dark box is first opened? trusting. wondering. TERROR!

i'll have to take those seperate pictures tomorrow. i didn't sleep well last night.
goodbye.
