tonight i painted jeremiahs head with acrylics. i would like to see how it looks when it's dry cause if it looks bad i totally just messed up this big head.

i also painted jeremiahs arms in the same fashion. i painted his nails with oils because i like the way they blend.

i gave my hotdogs new eyes today complete with attached eyelids.

september 23rd 2006

these are jeremiahs feet. i have hammered pieces of wood into them to attach all of his parts together with
stretchy foam. i thought this would be sturdier and more cost effective than stuffing him full of polyfil.

these are jeremiahs pants. i have hot glued plastic chicken wirey stuff all around to provide a shape to his waist.

this is the view from the top of jeremiahs pants. his legs are the same cardboard material as the hot dogs. his "hip bone" is
a piece of wood attached with foam. this gives him a wobbly look and adds a smidge of flexibility to his range of motion.

this is jeremiahs torso. it's made of 4 pieces of wood and the joint between his waist and torso is made of foam.
this will allow jeremiah to lean forward, backwards and also to sit down.

this is jeremiah with a shirt i made him. i will add a collar and buttons on the front. the shape will also be changed
with more plastic chicken wire and foam because the way he looks now is fucking stupid.

today my frankfurters got clothing. i had to de-eye them again and they look a smidge scary to me.

i had a zipper lying around and thought it would be a good time to make a hot pink sweatshirt with a zipper.
i am guessing that is hot pink. i don't know.

i scored some neat costume jewelry earlier this year some someone who went dumpster diving and it
came in handy to make these stylin' belt buckles and shirt buttons. i bought fabric remnants from the childrens museum
and they are working out nicely to make pretty shirts.

these pants took me two tries. have a nice day.

here are jeremiahs sculpey teeth and tusks

i attached the tusks onto dowels so i could fasten them on really good against his head.

this is his mouth so far.

here is what jeremiah will look like roughly. he will have different pants and a different shirt.

september 15th 2006

below are images of jeremiahs head. i've been a little scared to take the step of putting his
skin on because of the small amount of suede i have but so far it's looking ok to me.
there is a space on either side of his trunk i hadn't planned on so i think i will give him small sculpey tusks
to fill that in.

i created velcro straps to hold the puppet head tightly onto the operators arm. the mouth is a piece of wood
attached with leather straps.

this is what jeremiah looked like as i put his skin over his head. i was crossing my fingers it wouldn't look bad.

here is his head before i stuffed it with a little polyfil to smooth it out. his ears turned out better than i thought they would
and that pleased me.

here is jeremiahs head as i left him as of 1:51 am on saturday morning. i'm not too happy that the bottom
of his trunk looks like an uncircumsized penis so i guess that's something i'll have to correct tomorrow.

september 13th 2006

today i recieved all my maps and tourbooks and coupons and triptiks from triple a.
if i manage to get lost i will know where the amusing attractions are in whatever area i happen to get lost in
and that will be good.

below are 4 versions of timmy tomato. one can cry, one can puke, one has a motor on top of his head that
will spin his leaves around when he is excited and one just hangs out.

september 9th 2006

today i awoke planning to work on jeremiahs head. when i began to saw at the old pieces it fell apart.
this happening brought on a new sleeker slimmer design for jeremiahs head.

i have put in jeremiahs giant eyeballs. they are wooden balls i bought at the craft store.

i hot glued all around his eyes and then spraypainted them white. i gave them 5 coats.
excessive perhaps, but i wanted them really REALLY white as opposed to just really white.

after i spraypainted jeremiahs eyes i lost my gusto for working on him, but i knew i had to keep working on something.
time is running out. i moved my focus to the car. i purchased this car maybe a year and a half to two years ago not knowing
what i would use it for. in poem time episode 8 i decided to use it as my car in poem time land. for the film i needed to give
it a little zest. make it perky and fun and mobile. yesterday i bought a remote controlled car to take apart and put inside this shell
but getting to the shell was a little bit of a problem. this car is metal, badass, and welded together. i don't have heavy duty tools
here and didn't know how to get all up in that shit, so i just started hacking at it with a screwdriver and pliers.
for a moment i thought it was going to be too hard and was thinking of alternate ways to present the car in the movie.

this is the remote control car without the car part on top.

this is my finger. i believe it was the fourth time i got jabbed with jagged aluminum and this one bled a fair amount.
when my finger felt better i thought "NO! I WILL NOT LET THIS BE THE END"

and i went back to work tearing this car apart. i had to cut cut cut alot of the wheel holes because the
rc car was smaller than this car.

i attached the metal wheels to the rubber wheels that came with the car.

i thought i took more pictures of the guts but i guess i didn't. i raised the car body up with wood
and covered the circuit board on the rc car with foam. i then ran the antenna along the inside of the
car and fastened it with hot glue.

here is the underside of the car. i cut out pieces of aluminum for the front and the back and spraypainted it the car color.. i also added shoe leather to the wheels
to give it a better grip. the metal wheels were bigger than the rubber wheels and i could just see one of them popping off
when we were in the middle of nowhere and with no way to fix it. the leather evens out the wheel size and may even be
a teeny tiny bit bigger.

so that was it for today. i think tomorrow i will work on special timmy tomatoes. goodnight.

september 8th 2006

one month from now shooting will start. i am quite excited.

i tore apart jeremiah and am we-working his shape. i didn't think his ass was big enough and his range of motion sort of pissed me off a little.
i began putting his suede skin on. i originally planned for his feet to have leather soles but the color was off enough to look funny, so
i chose to make the bottoms of his feet out of suede as well.

these are jeremiahs legs with sculpey nails placed where i would like them to be. i have not glued them on yet.

these are jeremiahs completed arms and legs.

here are two of the three remote controlled cars i've purchased for the movie. the big one will be used
to replace the guts of the car you see on the left. the small one will be attached to another version of timmy tomato
as to make him mobile in an amusing fashion.

this is the everything button belt buckle. im not keen on it's design at all. it will be reworked.

september 7th 2006 (second entry)

today i bought the solution to all of my hot dog problems. SPANDEX! and i bought jeremiahs skin. SUEDE!

here is the guts inside jeremiahs trunk. it is two of those wooden swervy snakes. i glued them together
and they slink in unison. realism is my goal always. it's never not.

here are my little buddies with their skin sleeves ready to get dressed
"we're ready to get dressed" they say

and here are my hot dogs with their skin. i tied them off at the top like real hot dogs!

september 4th 2006 (second entry)

this is a cg rendering of timmy the tomato. my friend brian will be helping with cg segments in the film.

this is my friend the singer

i did an inventory today of all the big pieces of fabric i have. it's alot of fabric!

this is the outside of a hot dog bun

this is the inside of a hot dog bun

this is what the hog dog bun looks like with a hot dog in it. that scary looking monster thing
is a hot dog. they won't look like that when they are done, promise.

september 4th 2006

here is the jazzed up and glossed map. i like the way it turned out.

here are my hot dog people. attempt 2 with latex paints failed. i do believe i will need to find another material to cover these with since paint doesn't want to stay
on this foam. im thinking some sort of stretchy spandexy fabric. something with a tad of a sheen to it.

september 3rd 2006

here is a hot dog puppet. i am measuring how much foam skin i will need to cover it.

this is hot dog skin i have cut out for my four hot dog puppet people.

i have glued the skin to the puppets. now i must trim the heads to look like hot dogs and tuck the rest under the puppet.

here are the basic hot dog bodies.

here they are with their first coat of paint! tomorrow they will get a second and eyes and teeth and things.

september 2nd 2006

today i painted, glued and cut out my trip mappy thing. tomorrow i'll detail it a little more and give it a
delightful matte acrylic glaze. what a delight!
